Paws Up!

My name is Logan, and I am a year old Labrador Retriever.   I came into the shelter as a stray, and sadly no one ever came to reclaim me.  That's good news for you because that means I'M AVAILABLE--just in time to be your Valentine!  I am a friendly boy who loves people, and I get along well with other dogs.  I am pretty sure I am already housetrained, too!  What more could you ask for?  Will you be my Valentine?  If so, come down to the shelter to meet me today!

Wuv,  Logan  (") (")

Logan is searching for a "furever" home and family.  Come down and meet this sweetie today!  Logan is currently staying at the Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP).  As an open intake public shelter, we are often faced with difficult decisions to make space. If you are interested in saving this pet’s life by adopting, please contact the RCACP Adoption Coordinator at (540) 344-4922, ext. 314 or email Richie Brown at . If you are a rescue organization, please contact the RCACP Rescue Coordinator at (540) 344-4922, with the ID number.

You may submit an adoption application by email. The application can be found at www.rcacp.org. Adoption requests are also accepted by telephone: (540) 344-4922. You must submit an application along with your request to hold your place in the order requests are received. Before adoption, all pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested, and microchipped.  The RCACP's hours for adoption are 11:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday. Thank you for saving a life!

Pick Me!

Who is RCACP?

The Regional Center for Animal Control & Protection (RCACP) is an open intake facility accepting stray and lost animals from animal control officers and the public, as well as owner relinquished pets, from the City and County of Roanoke, the County of Botetourt, and the Town of Vinton. The RCACP posts pictures of lost or strayed animals on their website, www.rcacp.org, to make it possible to search for a lost pet online. The website also contains a lost and found database that allows someone who has lost a pet, or someone who has found a pet, to post information on the animal to help reunite the pet with his/her family.

Adopting a Friend

Once an animal has passed his/her required holding time at the facility to allow the owner to reclaim him/her, the RCACP works with the Roanoke Valley SPCA, rescue groups and other shelters to place available animals in suitable homes. Animals who are housed at the RCACP that are posted on the Petfinder.com website have been deemed available and can be seen by visiting the center Monday - Friday between 11:30 - 5:30 pm and Saturday 11:30 - 4:00 pm. Once an adoption request is placed, an appointment will be made to complete the adoption through the RVSPCA. Each will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted. To place an adoption or rescue request, or for more complete information, please email us at  or call (540) 344-4922. Be sure to give us the animal's ID number to assure your name is on the right pet.
