Vinton's Prepareathon 2020

Vintons Prepareathon wording with checkmark

Disasters don’t plan, but you can!

Prepareathon is a national event sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA’s Prepareathon mobilizes people to take an active role in protecting themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. Its chief goals are to increase the number of people who:

  • Understand which disasters could affect their community
  • Know what to do to stay safe
  • Take action to increase preparedness
  • Improve their ability to recover from a disaster

We invite you to join us in taking an active role in protecting yourself, your loved ones, and your community against disasters. During the whole month of September 2020, Vinton will participate in the Prepareathon!

Prepareathon topics to consider:

  • Learn about your local flood hazards and flood insurance
  • Educate children and adults about why being prepared is important
  • Build people’s confidence in their ability to take preparedness actions
  • Train people on how to take action at home, at school, at work, and at play
