Volunteer Service Opportunities

Volunteering for a Board / Commission Appointment

Any Town of Vinton resident interested in serving on various Town Council-appointed boards, commissions, or committees is encouraged to submit a completed application form (PDF) to the town manager's office, located at 311 South Pollard Street.

Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection (RCACP)

The Town of Vinton encourages interested citizens to consider volunteering their time to help animals in need at the Regional Center for Animal Control and Protection (RCACP). The center needs assistance in the following areas:

  • Daily maintenance of facilities including washing dishes and blankets/towels
  • Dog walkers and cat socialization
  • Networking with rescue groups and lost animal organizations
  • Photography and uploading pet photos to Petfinder.com
  • Transporting pets to rescues

Clean Valley Day

Clean Valley Day is organized by the Clean Valley Council and is held each year in April. You know its spring when you see the gloved volunteers out with their bright orange trash bags cleaning up our roadways and parks! This is a valley-wide volunteer clean up event. Come help us clean up our neighborhoods, streets, and creeks.

Fall Waterways Cleanup

Fall Waterways Cleanup is organized by the Clean Valley Council and is held each year in October. Volunteer teams from all over the Roanoke Valley join forces to remove trash from our streams, creeks and rivers. Clean your favorite spot along a stream, tributary or river (or get to know a new one). Tons of trash and tires are collected each year by the volunteers.
