The Public Works Department will continue curbside collection of brush and tree debris that was a result of damage associated with the wind storm of Friday, June 29, 2012. If a resident has this type of debris it should be cut to a size (6 feet long, no larger in diameter than 2 feet) that is manageable for the Town’s equipment and personnel and placed behind the curb or edge of street where refuse and bulk is normally collected. The brush is not to be placed in the street or road. Bulk and brush is not collected from alleys.
The Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (RVRA) accepts brush and tree debris from residents at the Tinker Creek Transfer Station at 1020 Hollins Road, NE, in Roanoke, just off of Orange Avenue/Rt. 460 intersection with Hollins Road. The Transfer Station is the brick building with the green roof. The normal hours of operation are: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM; and Saturday, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The Town of Vinton Public Works Department is accepting brush to be chipped at the field across from the Public Works building at 804 3rd Street.
